Hi Laurie,

Is there an over 50's category for men and an over 40's for women?

Cheers

Wayne

Hi All,

So, entries for our Open Hill CLimb close on 25th Sept at 1800. I know it seems early but those are the rules with CTT. Start sheets have to be distributed to the timekeepers etc. A bit archaic compared to British Cycling events but there you go.

We are running our club hill climb championship as a sub category this year with a prize for the winner and maybe even the podium should the prize pot permit. The winner will receive an exclusive VC Walcot musette made by il Soigneur. If you've seen them in the shops or online http://ilsoigneur.cc/ you'll know how good they are. I don't have a finished design yet but the mock-ups are attached for you to get an idea of what it might look like. Well worth the entry fee to win one of those, I'm sure you'll agree.

It's £7 and you can enter by post or online: http://cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/Default.aspx?&ge514__geka=WMj5FrnM8xg2AtWi73DtcNRTSSCvlJbSPrU1DgEhsgQS4wcDB3HvJaC-Kl2jWGSN762Q3kGofY6S7ZJACBOCexJX15oxOEn617j-f7-g20Uq7JHv6gFhM5L0B9WLC66VAgvEXZdGIHck24UomqH3l7mZlGAifnO93XYen0-lZNw&ge514__gevi=DNatD-3lukX3RI378XEttw&gv850__gvac=2&gv850__gvff0=52752&gv850__gvfl0=0&tabid=361

We have the University sports village booked as our HQ for the morning so plenty of room for parking, registration and post event coffees.

If you don't fancy taking part then please lend a hand with marshalling the event. We need approx 6 marshals to cover the course. Please get in contact with me and Jon through enquiries at vc-walcot.com if you'd like to help. It's easy to spectate and marshal at the same time ;0) There won't be a Sunday Group Ride running on that date either to help facilitate this.

Please get involved whichever way you can.

We are looking a little short of available ride leaders for this Sunday. The standard rules in this situation are that the group decides on the route and distance before departing the Guildhall at 0930. On the subject of the Sunday Group Rides please note that we have amended the ride guidelines on the website. There's been huge demand since the Olympics for all sorts of people wanting to ride with us. We tried to accomodate them all but in truth this was proving an impossible task. Over the years our Sunday ride has always been ridden at a good pace of about 15mph and generally the same distances. This suits the ride leaders as well as the people who regularly turn up. For the time being and until we are in a position to provide different paced rides I shall be advising any enquirers the expectations they should have of our ride. This is something we can discuss at the AGM.

And so to the AGM. We have a lot to discuss for next year. We normally include our AGM with a club social event but this year it'll be a 2-3 meeting at our usual spot, the Pulteney Arms. I am hoping to book it for 31st October from 7pm. Once booked I will confirm on email with the likely agenda attached. With hopefully Odd Down track being built next year there could a lot of change in the local cycling scene and as part of that we need to plan how the club can adapt to possible increased demand, more event opportunities but not neglecting the club's traditions at the same time. It's a difficult balancing act and I hope that as many of you as possible can make the AGM to help us plan for 2013 and beyond.

Cheers, Laurie
