[VC Walcot] VC Walcot TT Series #5 Cancellation

Hi Guys,
 
The rain has arrived as predicted and with regret I see no other option
than to cancel today's time trial. The steady flow of rain since mid
morning will mean that the bottom section of the course will be full of
puddles and muddy at best. In my experience this section becomes
waterlogged quite easily. There will also most likely be a lot of tree
debris etc. on the road. Without being able to do a course inspection I
think it's best to cancel. The course rides very well in the dry but is
not suited to the wet which is one of the drawbacks. The hunt continues
for a perfect TT course.
 
The rain isn't due to clear us until between 6-7pm tonight so there will
be little time for the course to dry out and I don't think it will be
much fun riding up to the course in the rain either. We went ahead a
couple of times last year in the wet with only 5-7 riders attending from
memory. Most of us ride in all weathers but sometimes British weather
wins the day. I'm sure you'll be raring to go in August at the final
round of the series on 26th August. You can always concentrate that
extra energy into Sunday's club run! 
 
In contrast, Pete is currently in Hawaii and enjoying sunny skies 32C
with 80% humidity. Hopefully he can bring that back with him for August.
