Any vet surgery should stock them. Here is a link to the one we use.

They should come as a pair, small one and large one.

Had one on my neck the other week - not sure how it got up there. Didn't know it was a tick, just scratched something and it caught on my nail and then dropped off and saw it was crawling along! Thankfully it looked to have all of it's head etc. intact, guess it hadn't been there that long. Been in long grass tonight will have to do a thorough check!

Where do you get the removers from?

Hi All,

I found a tick on my leg on Saturday the little *&%£ had been there since Wednesday night! Dave kindly lent me his tick remover thing to get the little bleeder off. I've attached Andy's advice from a few years ago for anyone who has not already read it.

Worthwhile then reminding everyone of the current advice:

Lymes disease can become a debilating lifelong illness and is thus to be avoided if at all possible
A study by the University of Bath in 2006 found that 5-10% of the ticks around Bath carry Lymes disease and are most likely to be picked up from deer and in long grass.
There are immediate symptoms but they only show in less than 50% of cases
You lessen your chances of contracting it if you remove the tick quickly (at least within 48 hours)
You MUST remove it properly though – DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SQUASH IT OR BURN IT OFF (YES I’M SHOUTING) or use vaseline or anything else to kill it – it will disgorge it’s stomach contents into you and possibly leave behind it’s mouth parts greatly increasing your chances of picking up something nasty. REMOVE IT USING THIN POINTED TWEEZERS OR A SPECIALIST REMOVER using a twisting motion.

And on that cheery note. See you later :-/
