Sucking in lungs full of wet air for 3 hours I was very croaky when I woke
today.......not to mention a little stiff in the legs.

Aileen, Andy, Ben, Chris, Justin and Kevin

Did the planned 'lanes' ride: "Castles and Manors" aka 'Long and Hard and
Damp'!

Out along the canal to Avoncliff, up the climb to Westwood, lanes to
Farleigh Castle, then Tellisford, Woolverton, Lullington, into Orchardleigh
estate to look at another manor then turn for home, back via lanes past
Tuckers Grave to Wellow, Colliers Way (old railway line) into Midford. Final
climb to Southstoke then drop down Entry Hill.

It was amazingly warm. Not raining so much as misty-drizzle.

I proffered a guarantee at the start that we'd not meet more than 3 cars on
the entire 'lanes' bits of the ride. We met 3! (or was it 3½ ?)

We'll have to wait for the stats from Chris but I reckon it'll be over
50km..

New-boy Ben was pushing the pace on his Pace. Sprinting all the climbs. We
need Tony and Steve back to work him over a bit (I can say that - he's not
on the email list yet!) (Or have Tony* and Steve given up knobbly tyres for
winter???)

*7Th in the 3rd Cats at Lugdershall on Saturday:

Got home at 9:45 (dodged the pub) and met The Others coming down the hill
into Weston (6 of them out too).

O/O
