Hey,

It's been a long time since I was last out, let alone since I last wrote a
Ride Report.

Only 4 of us on a lovely sunny evening, Tav (first time this year), Justin
(on the rigid 69er SS), Charlie (who managed to get away from the kids) and
myself (sporting a fashionabe new belly ;).

Did the box route with the bomb holes, so headed out through Bathford up
the hill, Justin decided to take us on a special trail just below Kingsdown
golf course, just a little overgrown and ended with Tav's knee meeting his
for crown. We took the usual wooded descent down to Devizes Rd and began
the climb up through Thorn Wood to hazelbury Manor. At this point we met
our company for the rest of the evening, glutinous mud, the kind that stops
your wheel moving past your chainstay, which tended to appear just after
Justin would mention how surprisingly dry the trail is . I think Justin
managed to clear the entire climb upto the manor, he obviously
has particularly circular wheels, while I ensured no one was left at the
back ;) Then onto the bomb holes, where we found someone had built a new
track through the middle but not going to anywhere in particular, logging
maybe? After that we hit the descent from the farmhouse (with the barbwire)
where we found that the top gate has been removed and that the lower
section has been covered in loose gravel. Then t'was just the normal ride
back through Bannerdown to the Pig to meet Andy, Steve and a pitcher of
Butcombe.

If your free Saturday 2pm, come see Andy carry the paralympic lantern at
Pulteney bridge, Otherwise see you next Wednesday fr what looks to be a wet
one.
