Hallowheel Ride Report to follow.

In the meantime I mentioned last night and a couple of weeks ago about
this club that's been set up. Interesting to read their blurb, they are
associated with a bike shop in Melksham but organise rides in Bath..
including a Weds night ride starting 6.30 from Sydney Gardens..I have a
feeling I might know who the ride leader is.

I only mention it out of interest really ;-)

Welcome to Setting a Scene, a hub for the all things Mountain Biking
(and a few other pedal disciplines) in the South West.

Our group objective is:

"To encourage and enable everyone to ride in an environment where they
are surrounded by support and enthusiasm"

The group is well known for its diverse membership, from fitness guru's
to slow steady beginners we have a riding buddy for everyone. All rides
are open for anyone to participate in, and ride speeds are equal to the
slowest on the ride (so please don't feel like your slowing anyone down
because your not... especially when im riding, as I will be tired and
thankful of the pause anyway).

What makes us different?

Setting a Scene ride only as fast as the slowest rider, our larger rides
often contain a few small groups of riders, who ride at different paces,
meeting as pre set points around trails. While we are officially a
"Club" we can take no responsibility for any accidents incidents or
damage (or for providing lunch half way around) on rides not officially
endorsed by the club. We do take riding seriously and safety is a must.
Many of our riders hold valid First aid qualifications gained through
their workplace or through other organisations.

Sally in the woods - Night Ride 5th Oct

Meeting in Browns Folly car park for 7pm on Wednesdya 5th October 2011,
giving anyone riding from chippenham / melksham an hour to get there
(parking is available at the start point).

Into the woods with some decent single track thats a little rooty in
places. Riding up to the Folly and from there is a bit of gravity fed
singletrack leading down onto a main road. Then a small drop off into
Sally in the Woods with some fun singletrack popping out on Warleigh
Lane then back to Bath / Bathford / Bradford on avon via the canal
Depending on where your heading to after the ride.

What pace do you go?
On the pedally sections we will not be riding hard (like I said - a
leisurely ride) so you won't have any trouble keeping up, as its going
ot be getting dark , we will be riding to enjoy the change in
atmosphere. Not to race down the hill.

Anyone else interested?

Distance?
Approximately 30 mile loop if riding from Melksham.

Anyone looking to ride from bath with me, I will be leaving at 6:30 from
Syndey Gardens.

Front and Rear lights are a Must for anyone looking to ride. as this
will contain some road riding therefore the highway code needs to be
taken into consideration. For the Off road riding (the sections between
the roads) only a front light is required.

OK, sounds like we're on then. 6.30 in costume. I'll plan a route with a
few stories to end up at the Packhorse fairly early (say 8.30ish).

I'd be up for the Bath Ales ride too - sometime between now and the
Christmas curry?

Andy

Hi everyone,

I'm keen for some hallowheel fun. An easy ride plus a few pubs sounds
fine.

Would also be keen for a ride over to bath ales one Wednesday.

Cheers,
Chris

So anyone else up for Hallowheel? If so what 'format'?

(Fancy dress or not, off-road or not etc).

Not been on the bike much myself, rode over to the 'cross Sun but didn't
race.

Up to messing about tmrw but not a 'proper' ride.

Could make it a couple of pubs ending up at the Packhorse?

Tav was planning to be out but is now in Belgium, Justin still got a
dodgy knee? Tony still lightless? How about everyone else?

Bath ales would be good; I wanted to do it last time. Alas as I have to
drive in to Bath I can't really see any sense in me doing this as I
can't drink.

Have you got your ghostly costume for tomorrow ?

The mailing list has been very quiet lately, has everyone gone on
holiday?

Is their a Halloween ride this week, or was it last?

Also wanted to mention The Bath Ales tour again. As were still waiting
for me to organise last years i thought i get my ass into gear and sort
one out now. I'm thinking meet 6:30 on a Wednesday and cycle to Bath
ales for 7 we need a minimum of 12. It's only a tenner and we need to
give 2 weeks notice.

Who's interested?
